DUE to recent adverse publicity concerning GPs and the NHS, I feel I tell of the good side.

In February last year I went to see my doctor with a slight pain in my back.

Without hesitation, I was referred to the Radiology Department at Queen's Park Hospital, Blackburn, for an ultra sound scan, after which arrangements were made the same day to see a specialist at Blackburn Infirmary.

In a matter of a few days, I had a CT scan, which revealed a large tumour on my adrenal gland. I was then referred to the Urology Clinic at the Infirmary and, in June last year, I had major surgery.

It was a horrendous operation, but thanks to the professionalism of the team of surgeons, the anaesthetist and staff in the INU, I made a remarkable recovery.

I could not have had better treatment if I had been a private patient.

Last year, the Urology Department received the 'Seal of Excellence.' It was well deserved and if there was such an award for GPs I would award it to the doctors at St George's Surgery.
