EAST Lancashire Hospice Appeal will be boosted by £4,500 on Thursday, when proceeds from Clitheroe's bonfire is handed over.
The event, organised by the Rotary Club of Ribblesdale on November 4, was attended by more than 4,000 people and went ahead as planned, despite the rain. It was aided by Clitheroe Rotary Club, Rotaract, Round Table and Lions committees.
The fireworks and food were sponsored by the town's Castle Cement and Perry's Peugeot, who each donated £1,500.
"We were very grateful for the support given by the two companies, which enabled us to donate more to the hospice," said Ribblesdale Rotary secretary Edwin Gretton.
The cheque will be presented to Geoff Braithwaite, chairman of the hospice fund, at the Old Post House Hotel, King Street, Clitheroe, at 12.15pm on Thursday.
