AN application to create an 'art dome' and croquet lawn on land at Brockhall Village, Langho, has been recommended for refusal by Ribble Valley Council planning officers.
The lawn site on the northern end of the village complex and to the west of the recently constructed children's play area, would be set into a hillside and would include landscaping of the former hospital tip.
Also proposed is an art installation, a hexagonal structure set into the landscaping and forming a mainly covered building with an aluminium and glass dome. The application is for domestic use.
Officers, however, have frowned on the plan, stating that it aims to introduce built development on land where landscaping is proposed.
They feel it constitutes a 'piecemeal' development which would be detrimental to the visual qualities of the area. They also say it represents inappropriate domestic use of an area designated as open countryside.
The application is to be discussed at the borough council's planning committee meeting on Thursday.
