Haresfinch 30 Leigh Harriers 19
FINCH fought back from a half-time deficit of 18-7 to record a hard-earned win.
A try by winger Ste Richards and a conversion and a drop goal by stand-off Colin Rogers gave the home side an early lead.
But sloppy defence allowed Harriers to race ahead with three tries, two conversions and a penalty.
Finch came out in determined mood after the break and tries by Rogers and centre Ste Thompson, with one conversion and a drop goal by the former, saw them quickly draw level.
Harriers edged ahead again with a drop goal but Finch dominated the closing stages and deservedly sealed victory with two tries, the first a John Jackson 'special' and the second a blockbusting effort by Ste Thompson, both goaled by Rogers.
Thompson took the Franco's Wholesale Ltd. man-of-the-match, with scrum-half Stuart Simmons winning the Fran's News best player, while there were also good displays from young second-row Gareth Brown and veteran loose-forward Karl Farrall.
