Wigan St Judes A 16 Bold Miners 28
BOLD rallied after a slow start to take the points.
St Judes got off to a flier, rattling in 16 points in the opening quarter before the visitors hit back with a strong run by Ian Honey resulting in Chris Burgess going in at the corner.
With Honey and fellow forwards Paul Rigby and Wes Singleton to the fore Bold quickly returned to the attack. And they narrowed the deficit to 16-8 at the break with a try by Singleton
The second half was all Bold and as the big St Judes pack tired the visitors began to punch holes in their defence.
Darren Anders sent Paul Haury in at the corner with a well-timed pass, then Wes Singelton backed up another Ian Honey break to score under the posts, Darren Anders adding both conversions.
But Bold saved the best till last with Neil Killshaw, Dave Scott and Mark Saunders combining to send Chris Burgess sprinting through for his second try.
The Grundy Excavations man-of-the-match went to Ian Honey, with great games also from Paul Rigby, Wes Singleton, Chris Burgess and Neil Killshaw.
