HIGH Street giants enjoyed ringing tills in the run-up to Christmas, sales figures reveal.
Boots, Debenhams and Woolworths-to-B&Q group Kingfisher all reported busy trading in the festive period.
High street chemist Boots said sales of its core health and beauty products had risen.
Department store group Debenhams, which has a store in Blackburn, said it had seen record sales in the run-up to Christmas, with particularly strong sales of clothing and gifts.
Kingfisher also reported a jump in Christmas sales, with the strongest growth coming from its DIY shops.
Like-for-like sales, stripping out the effect of new store openings, jumped by 4.5 per cent for the nine weeks to December 30.
