ENFIELD have named former Lowerhouse all-rounder Martin van Jaarsveld as their new professional.
The 26-year-old South African, who finished eighth in the batting averages in the Transco Lancashire League last season, replaces Australian David Saker.
Enfield president John Hargreaves said the club were looking for more runs from their paid-man this season.
"We were very happy with David Saker after the first year but in the second we felt he didn't perform too well and we fancied a change.
"We were looking for more of a batsman this year and Martin will do the job."
Van Jaarsveld, who has represented South Africa 'A', averaged 44 runs per game last season. In his first year with Lowerhouse he broke the batting record, scoring 1260 runs and taking 54 wickets.
Enfield will be hoping for a better season after finishing second from bottom last time out.
