MERSEYSIDE Police's Christmas drink drive campaign, Operation Nemesis, has been hailed a success after a reduction in the numbers of alcohol-related offences over the festive period -- in contast to the national trend.
The total number of breath tests administered at the scene of road traffic collisions in the region was down eight per cent on last year's figures, while the use of road checks as a deterrent also appeared effective with only 15 drivers breath-tested proving positive, a decrease of nearly 12 per cent.
