WHISTON Willis Primary School has brightened up the playground by painting the waste paper bins in vibrant colours.
The competition, run by Knowsley Schools Council, is aimed at improving the environment by encouraging children to put their litter in the bin and make the playground a more pleasant and safer place.
The winning design was painted by Kerry Port, aged 10, who chose a 'busy bee' picture, which is to be used on all the bins in the school.
Deputy headteacher at Whiston Willis School, Paula Evans, said: "All the pupils who took part in the design competition made a real effort and it was encouraging to see their enthusiasm. We hope this will encourage all the children to become even more litter friendly."
