BACK by popular demand, Olympic sailing medallist Iain Percy has made a second series of visits to schools in the area to show off his medal and tell of his sailing success.
Iain won a gold medal in the Finn single-handed dinghy class at Sydney 2000 and he visited Kirkham Grammar School and St Paul's and Holy Family primary schools in Warton to talk about his experiences.
Iain was sponsored by BAE Systems, who worked closely with him to develop his winning yacht which featured a futuristic carbon mast.
He explained how he won the gold medal and talked about what went on behind the scenes at the Olympics, before signing autographs for sports fans.
He then took to the playground to give years 4, 5 and 6 a run through of the kind of training he undertakes to keep in tip-top physical condition.
Iain said: "Since my first visit to these schools many of the children have followed my progress at the Olympics and were so enthusiastic that a return was always on the cards.
"The training session was a spur of the moment request from the teachers and was great fun."
