A PAIR of entrepreneurs from Highfield High School, Blackpool, have managed to raise money for the Macmillan Windmill Appeal while earning themselves top marks for a school project.
Jonathan Hinchliffe and Paul Gwynne organised a Christmas shopping trip to the Trafford Centre, in Manchester, as part of a project for the GNVQ Leisure and Tourism course.
But because they had overestimated the cost, to cater for any unforeseen expenses, there was a total of £64.50 left over to go towards a charity.
Diane Austin, GNVQ co-ordinator at Highfield, said the boys were required to organise an event of some sort, so they decided to hire a bus and stage the trip on November 25 last year to eliminate the stress of driving in the busy Christmas traffic.
She said: "There were 29 pupils and 20 adults on the trip which everyone enjoyed. To stop people getting bored on the journey we had a quiz and a raffle and everyone could go their own way when they arrived, so the whole day was a huge success.
"They had some money spare and they nominated the Macmillan Windmill Appeal as their chosen charity. They did an excellent job and I am really proud. All the parents were complimentary about how smoothly it ran, and they even want it to become a regular trip every year."
