YMCA suffered their biggest defeat of the season in the PDP Friendly League and were completely outplayed in both games. This was their first game for over a month and a lack of match practice was very much in evidence against a lively and well organised Poulton outfit.

IMPRESSIVE displays by both YMCA's sides proved too much for the visitors. The feature of their A team's win was an excellent hat trick by Jordan Douthwaite, Ben Fishwick and Danny Penswick both capped fine performances with a goal apiece. The B game followed a similar pattern with the YMCA defence in commanding form denying the visitors any clear-cut chances. At the other end Adam Whiteside netted twice with Alex Walkden, Jack Gaughan and the lively Max Rothwell all on target also. This win increases YMCA's lead at the top of the table.
SOUTH SHORE U11s 0 YMCA 4
YMCA coasted into a 3-0 interval lead with strikes by Ben Seear, Rick Seear and the outstanding Luke Andrews. YMCA continued to dominate the game after the break although they only managed to add one to the tally, a second goal from Rick Seear.
YMCA U12s 2 SOUTH SHORE YOUTH 2 (AET)
YMCA progressed to the Hogan Cup quarter finals with a penalty shoot-out after extra time at Palatine School. YMCA started brightly and were on top from the start but they missed numerous chances and Shore with their limited opportunities, netted twice to take a 2-0 interval lead. YMCA continued on the offensive after the restart though and were rewarded with two well taken goals by the impressive Dominic Jones. No further goals came in extra time so the tie had to be decided on penalties.
SOUTH SHORE YOUTH U13s 0 YMCA 8
YMCA bounced back from disappointing defeat the previous week to record a convincing victory. Richard Ayres put them ahead and an own goal doubled their lead. It was 3-0 at the break with a goal from David Tufft. After the restart Ayres completed an excellent hat-trick with two further strikes and as YMCA continued to dominate goals were added by Jack Sharples (2) and Steve Hesford.
YMCA U14s 5 THORNTON 1
LEAGUE leaders YMCA found themselves a goal behind in the opening minutes at Seafield Road last Sunday but they recovered well with an equaliser from Sean Atkinson. Carl Bennett added another to put YMCA 2-1 ahead at the break. They remained in control in the second half and the outstanding Lee Glickman netted twice to make it 4-1 with Andy Mitchell completing the scoring. New goalkeeper Guy Roberts always looked assured in his YMCA debut.
OUR LADY U15s 2 YMCA 6
SKIPPER Ben Marks gave YMCA a fifth minute lead but a defensive error gifted the home side with an equaliser three minutes later. YMCA restored their lead on the half hour with a second strike by Marks who finished off a brilliant move with an impressive finish. Ten minutes into the second half YMCA went further ahead from a penalty but the home reduced the deficit with a spectacular goal. But as fitness began to tell Marks completed his hat-trick to make it 4-2 and substitute Danny Murphy added two superbly taken goals before the end. YMCA U17s 3 CLIFTON JUNIORS 0
YMCA clinched a Hogan Cup quarter-final place with an excellent victory. They edged the first half and led 1-0 at the break through Anthony Fecitt to complete a fine opportunist hat-trick. Chris Haines impressed in solid YMCA performance.
