THE Ashurst Beacon Race is on Saturday at 1pm. It starts at the Prince William Inn which is on the top road over Ashurst Beacon near the village of Dalton (near Skelmersdale).
Follow road signs for Beacon County Park from Upholland or Newburgh. The route is six miles long with 950 feet of climbing over fields, paths and trackes with only a short distance on the road. It is not suitable for beginners or juniors under 14.
The Keith Munton Memorial BOulsworth Hill Fell Race has a 12.30pm start on Saturday. The course is 6.5 miles long with 1,200 ft of ascent and it starts from the Herders Arms, Laneshawbridge near Colne.
Both of the weekend's fell races can be entered on the dya, but entries for the Four Villages Half Marathon closed on January 1. The race is at 11am on Sunday from Helsy Rugby Club.
