EIGHTY years on and the people of Ainsworth are still horsing around.
A steeplechase meeting first held in the village in 1921 which continued locally until housing developments blocked the route will take place on Saturday, March 24.
The annual Holcombe Point-to-Point is now held in Whittington, on the edge of the Lake District.
But elderly locals may well remember mills shutting up shop for the day so workers could support the race which became known as the "Millworkers Grand National".
Mrs Claire Green, one of the organisers, said: "The event is a real family day out. We have trade stalls, side shows and the entry fee is only £10 per car. Any profits go to charity.
"This is a long-running tradition and we are trying to drum up support to ensure it is still around for many years to come."
