Clarets captain Steve Davis is looking for a win over Barnsley at Turf Moor tomorrow to prove that Burnley are over their mid-season slump.
Stan Ternent's side ended their five-match League losing streak with a goalless draw at Gillingham last Saturday and Davis believes a home victory would have the club pointing firmly back in the right direction.
He said: "It would say to us that we are back up and running. We do need a result.
"At one point we were churning out the results at home and it would be nice to get back to that. If we could get three points everyone would be delighted."
Burnley boasted the longest unbeaten home record in Division One before running into touble with three straight defeats around Christmas. The Clarets have come under pressure from the home supporters during that run but Davis believes the players can deal with that and turn the situation back to their advantage by getting back to winning ways.
He added: "I think it comes with the territory. If you're not winning at home, where there are more home supporters than away ones, you do get a little bit of stick.
"It's not ideal but you've got to cope with it. We can handle that. We've done it before when we've been on bad runs and we can do it again.
"Supporters have got the right to say what they want and when we are doing well we can expect them to be right behind us.
"I'm sure that if we do go in front they will make themselves heard which should work to our advantage."
Burnley lost 1-0 at Barnsley on Boxing Day to a last-gasp goal from defender Chris Morgan and Davis is keen to put the record straight against a side now under the management of Nigel Spackman but struggling to stay clear of the relegation zone.
He said: "It would be nice to reverse that score. I think we deserved to win but it didn't happen.
"They have got a new manager and everyone will want to impress him. It could perhaps up their performance by five per cent but if we play to our potential we have more than enough to win the game."
Nik Michopoulos will retain his place in goal after shaking off a knee injury that would have kept him out of Burnley's mid-week FA Cup tie at Scunthorpe had it gone ahead.
And with Kevin Ball set to return in midfield, Ternent has only Lee Briscoe missing.
The manager's biggest selection teaser is set to come up front as he has to decide whether to pair Andy Payton or Graham Branch alongside Ian Moore.
He said: "It's always difficult to leave Andy Payton on the line but he has had a few niggles. I don't have a problem with Andy. I know if I put him on he'll do his best and score goals but I have to pick what I consider to be the best starting line-up.
"I do have other players who are capable of playing at this level now, so it is not an easy decision."
Barnsley boss Spackman today strengthened his squad by signing Isiah Rankin from Bradford and Steve Hayward from Fulham.
Ian Bishop, linked with Burnley in some places but not thought to be a target, also has to decide whether to join Barnsley, Sheffield Wednesday or Miami Fusion.
Meanwhile, Ternent has confirmed that Burnley will not be proceeding with a deal for Toulouse striker Eugene Dadi.
