KEEP it local -- that's the advice from MP hopeful and Wigan councillor Keith Cunliffe.
Cllr Cunliffe, speaking to the Journal, said he failed to be impressed by the number of Labour "outsiders" in contention for the role of Parliamentary candidate for Leigh at the next general election.
He said: "I don't doubt the impressive qualifications of the contenders from outside the Leigh area.
"But there are a number of well qualified local nominations for the role and any of them would make a good MP. With the wealth of talent they have to offer I believe the Leigh Constituency Labour Party should choose one of the local candidates."
