HUNDREDS of homes in Darwen were left without power yesterday,Thursday, after the electricity supply was cut off.
Houses on Lightbown Street, Exchange Street, Stanhope Street and Quakerfields were affected by the cut after an underground cable failed at about 6am.
Emergency engineers from Norweb were on the scene within an hour and began repairing the cable. They were still in the area at 10.30am.
A spokesman for United Utilities, Norweb's parent company, said: "We apologise for any inconvenience but our engineers were on the scene quickly and hope to repair the fault soon."
