HI-TEC ex-pupils of Newton Grammar can find long lost pals through the school's web-site. Last week Leigh-born old boy Colin Sumner, Salford University's newly-appointed, professor of criminology, asked old acquaintances to contact him. The legal eagle has recently returned to the north after completing years of research at Cambridge University's Institute of Criminology, and running a law school in London's East End, where he taught and supervised thousands of students including former Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Paul Condon. Now he's back in the north the author of seven books said he would like to track down his old pals. As a result for last week's story Steve Perks of Golborne revealed the Newton Community High School web site, which is complete with an ex-pupils' page.
He said Newton Grammar School became part of Selwyn Jones High School in the early 70s and ex-pupils can submit an entry in a bid to contact former pupils. For other ex-students interested the webmaster is Richard Attenborough and the address is http://www.dialspace.dial.pipex.com/town/drive/ar80/Newton.htm.
