LEIGH, Atherton and Tyldesley shoppers are being "ripped off" according to the North West Labour Euro-MP.The European Union block on branded imports is hitting the pockets of North West shoppers says Euro-MP Terry Wynn.
The battle between Tesco and Levi Strauss in the European Court of Justice over the supermarket's right to sell cut-price jeans prompted fierce criticism from Mr Wynn.
He said: " North West consumers have been ripped off for far too long by EU regulations which keep cheap branded goods out of discount stores, even though they have been fairly bought in markets outside the community. Fancy labels should not mask high prices."
