NEWCHURCH Women's Institute have held their first meeting of the year in the Parish Hall, Culcheth. Future trips were discussed, including a further theatre visit to The Taming of the Shrew and to Duerrs Jams. Guest speaker Mr T McNicholls gave a talk on his experiences as a toastmaster; the vote of thanks was given by Mrs P Poulter and the competition for an unusual drinking vessel was won by Mrs I Bromilow with Mesdames J Greig and A Williams coming second and third. Mrs S Brown won the raffle. Flowers were provided by Mrs H Parry and Mesdames M Pezet and J Scattergood were the tea hostesses. The next monthly walk will be on January 25 and the next meeting will be held in the Parish Hall on Wednesday February 14 at 7.30pm -- visitors will be welcome.
