DURING the recent bad weather, with heavy snow lying on the ground and most of the side streets in this part of the borough barely passable, the milk, the post and the newspapers were all delivered as usual.
As a newsagent's daughter, and once having had a paper round, no one knows better than I the feeling of having to get up and out at the crack of dawn on an icy morning in adverse weather conditions.
Therefore I feel that I echo the sentiments of many thousands of local people when I thank those who deliver our milk, our post and our newspapers as well, of course, all of those other splendid people who deliver essential and emergency services, day in and day out, and who, at times, we are all inclined to take for granted.
COUNCILLOR DOROTHY GUNTHER,
chairman, Ramsbottom and Tottington Area Board.
