TYLDESLEY'S naked protester Vincent Bethell is Britain's most notorious nude after his stand for the right to walk round in public in his birthday suit.

The 28-year-old former Leigh St Mary's RC High pupil, now living in London, hit the headlines last week after making legal history.

A jury cleared the shaven-headed campaigner of causing a public nuisance.

That was after he was arrested for refusing to put his clothes back on near Kensington Palace, refusing to wear anything during the five months he was on remand and throughout his trial.

His convictions have led to 22 arrests, but still Vincent thinks there's nothing like being naked.

He started his Freedom to Be Yourself Campaign two years ago, and now vows to carry on fighting until the old fashioned laws against public nudity are abolished.

He battles on despite six convictions for disorderly behaviour and paying out hundreds of pounds in fines.

There's one thing for sure the lad's got nerve -- and the body to do it. Nice legs!

He's certainly struck a blow for freedom, unfortunately I don't think there'll be many of us following in his footsteps.
