RAMSBOTTOM United bid to get their much-postponed Worthington Trophy first round game against Clitheroe played at the Riverside tonight (kick-off 7.45pm).
Midfield man Danny Goodall has a 75 per cent chace of playing in the game. He has been out of action with a toe injury he picked up in the game at Squire's Gate on January 9.
The Rams have made a new signing, bringing in centre back Tony Morris from North West Counties Division One rivals Flixton.
Morris is cup-tied tonight, but will be available for Saturday's trip to Mossley in the league.
Lee Cryer scored twice as Clitheroe came from behind twice to defeat Wimborne 4-2 after extra time in their FA Vase fourth round tie down in Dorset on Saturday.
Clitheroe topped the NWCL Division One table for much of the season, but have now slipped to fourth in the table, four points behind leaders St Helens Town, who have 46 points, and 11 points more than the Rams who are ninth on 31 points, but with five games in hand on some of their rivals.
News of Ramsbottom's long-term injuries, and Dave Yorke Robinson is set to see a specialist after his knee injury failed to respond to six weeks of treatment. Ligament damage is feared.
Better news of Warren Brierley and Dave Roach. Brierley has had an operation on his cruciate ligament injury and is "coming along nice and steady", according to Rams' manager Ken Bridge.
Fellow defender Roach is two weeks away from a comeback to training after having a cartilage removed.
Left back Mike Langhorn isn't faring so well though. He faces another six weeks on the sidelines and a third operation on his broken nose.
