IN response to Mrs Ellen Ashcroft's remarks (Letters, January 4), it is a sad fact of life that litter seems to plague Blackburn and Darwen and this does make an unsightly mess and is smelly for all residents and visitors.
Her suggestion that councillors visit the areas they represent is valid, but, I fear, unworkable.
My local councillor visits us every four years, but, alas, not to look at the rubbish, but just to talk rubbish.
The council needs to prioritise the public's needs. Cleaning the streets or mobile phones for each councillor? We can't have both, Mrs Ashcroft.
K MALPASS (Mr), Clement Street, Darwen.
