LICENSEE Paul Taylor is inviting customers to a one-off fundraising event not to be sniffed at.
Paul, who manages the Shakespeare Hotel, in Wytham Street, Padiham, is hosting a pig racing night to help one of his regulars raise enough money for a challenge of a lifetime.
Pub-goer Philip Gardner, of St John's Road, Padiham, plans to tackle 100km of rugged terrain up the Andes mountains and needs to raise £2,500 before the five-day trip in May.
Philip, who works at Perseverance Mill, in Padiham, is hoping to collect more than the minimum £2,500 which will all be donated to Scope, an organisation that helps children and adults with cerebal palsy.
Paul supports a different charity every year and said he was hoping for a good turn out on Thursday: "We've had similar horse racing events in the past but we wanted to do something different this year.
"We will play various clips of pig races and people have to bet on which one they think will win. It's a bit like the Grand National but for pigs."
The first race will start at 8.30pm on Thursday January 25 and customers are reminded that beerwill be on offer at £1 a pint.
