IN REPLY to J Taylor's remarks (Sports Letters, January 3) about Stephen Cummings' view of Burnley's football town, I believe that Mr Cummings' view relates to Burnley supporters being extremely loyal to their club, despite their many downs.
Mr Taylor refers to the glorious season of 1986-87. Perhaps he couldn't remember what the gate was at Turf Moor that day, but as an avid Burnley fan I went to the game and feel confident that if Rovers had been in a similar predicament, there would be few "fans" there.
I wonder, was Mr Taylor a Rovers fan prior to 1995. In fact, how many of you were? I'm proud to be a natural-born Claret, despite Mr Taylor getting his early Christmas present on December 17. Our day will come.
MRS SHARON OSBORNE, Gorse Road, Blackburn.
