WAS Steve Barker (Sports Letters, January 9) really at the same games?
Regarding the Birmingham game, what really surprised me was the relatively small number of away fans for such a big city club and how quiet they were, although, in fairness, the first half gave neither set of fans anything to sing about.
What did spark the fans on the Blackburn End was the introduction of the mercurial Matt Jansen in the second half.
As for the Crewe game there was not much there in the way of surprises -- a hardcore set of away fans. But, as for them out-singing the Rovers fans, where was Steve sitting?
Finally, Steve Cummings did a brilliant job of getting us to rise to the bait. Surely, what any writer fears is indifference to his column and, worse still, that Rovers fans feel indifferent to his football team -- which I, for one, don't.
