SATURDAY, October 14, 2000 will live in the memory of all Saints fans for a very long time, beating the 'Pie-eaters' in a Grand Final.
What made it extra special for the 20,000 or so Saints fans who were actually at Old Trafford was the atmosphere, the sense of occasion being present at such a great match and, moreover, the sharing that tremendous victory with the team and the coaching staff.
Friday, January 26 2001 at the Reebok Stadium can be another such occasion to live in the memory, when, hopefully, Saints become World Club Champions.
This will be another huge match at a fantastic venue. Ian Millward has made it perfectly clear how much he and the team want to win the match, now it is up to us the fans to get there and support the team, and hopefully take the Aussie Champions down a peg or two.
Victory would ensure that the Saints and St Helens would be branded worldwide which would help to attract sponsors and more star players to the club.
So let all Sintelliners take pride in the club and town -- let us grasp the nettle and be world class on the grass as well as in glass.
Finally, think of the next time we play Wigan, when instead of chanting 'Stand up for the Champions' it will be 'Stand up for the World Champions.'
Make sure you get to the Reebok Stadium to support the lads.
Come on the Saints!
