OLD-style paper library tickets are set to become a thing of the past in Clayton-le-Moors, Church and Rishton with the launch of a new computerised issue system.
The system is already in place in Accrington and now other libraries are following suit.
Library users at Clayton-le-Moors and Church were issued new tickets and Rishton Library will start using the system next Monday.
Anyone who has not received a new plastic ticket should see a member of staff for details.
Angela Hoyland of Rishton Library, who have recently had a new Internet station installed, said: "Books going out and coming in will be scanned and, if there are no fines due, it will go straight back on the shelf. It should make the system a lot smoother. It will help archiving and keeping track of what's going on at the library.
"We had to ring Accrington to find out what we had in stock. Now we can just look a book up on the computer."
