FORM GUIDE
* MICHOPOULOS: Didn't deserve to finish on the losing side after an inspired display kept Burnley in the tie 9
THOMAS: Steve Torpey had a quiet night as Thomas did a pretty solid job on the Scunthorpe front man 6
COX: Given the slip a couple of times in the first half, the defender generally kept dangerman Guy Ipoua under check 6
DAVIS: Kept most of the danger out of the Clarets box although plenty came at him and his defensive colleagues from just outside. Missed the first penalty 6
BALL: The unlucky man to miss the decisive spot-kick and found Scunthorpe's midfield elusive at times during the first 90 minutes 5
COOK: Burnley's midfield was second best but at least Cook found time to put his foot on the ball in the first half 6
JOHNROSE: The cup hero of the first meeting, he couldn't save the day last night as Scunthorpe's midfield had the edge 5
MOORE: Threatened occasionally but didn't hold the ball up well enough, albeit from awkward service at times. Took his penalty well 5
WELLER: Looked likely to create something for Burnley on the right flank in the first half and continued to probe away in the second 6
PAYTON: Saw a chance snuffed out in the first half but showed his pedigree with a well taken goal after the break which looked set to take the Clarets through 7
BRANCH: His delivery wasn't always the best but he stuck to his task in a more defensive role and little got past him 6
SUBSTITUTES
LITTLE: Gave Burnley something extra when he came on with his willingness to get on the ball and create some openings. Converted his penalty calmly 8
MULLIN: A couple of lively runs won corners for Burnley late on and he also kept his cool to convert a spot-kick

SCUNTHORPE
EVANS: Didn't have too much to do but made one crucial save in the penalty shoot-out 6
DAWSON: Lethal left foot gave Scunthorpe the lifeline they grabbed 7
STANTON: His pace got the Iron out of trouble at the back and he's one for the future 8

SUBSTITUTES
GRAVES: Played his part in midfield late on
MORRISON: Missed his spot-kick
STAMP: Only touch was a successful penalty
