BOOKWORM pupils at a highly-rated seat of learning have turned over a new 'leaf' -- and are loving every minute of it!
For staff, governors and friends of Richard Evans Community Primary School, Haydock, have liaised with St Helens Council to install the Dewey Decimal System in the school library.
The futuristic venture was launched by St Helens North MP Dave Watts at the reopening of the library, and the initiative reflects great credit on Tommy Dingsdale, MBE, and Cyril Cook, who obtained funding and developed the system.
Adding to the range of books also spells greater accessibility to a wealth of information and stories available to young people, who are always anxious to widen their breadth of knowledge.
This latest facility at the school is another significant step forward in their educational excellence, and follows in the wake of a computer link-up with St. Helens College.
Headteacher Stephen Owen also welcomed local historian David Paul and MSF union representives, and expressed his appreciation of the interest shown in the close-knit 'family' that is Richard Evans school.
