ROYAL Marine Lee Haggerty is celebrating after receiving his coveted Green Beret.
The 18-year-old, from St Helens, successfully completed 30 weeks of the hardest initial training in the world to become a Royal Marine Commando.
The Green Beret is the distinctive hallmark of commando troops, indicating that those who wear it have attended and passed a gruelling and physical demanding test of endurance, by displaying the qualities of unselfishness, cheerfulness under adversity, courage, determination and high professional standards.
Former Broadway High School pupil Lee said: "Commando training is well known for its intensity, but everything we do is progressive which enables people with all standards of fitness to achieve their final goal."
