ELDERLY tenants living in St Helens Housing Association properties know how to bridge the generation gap.
For events held in two of the Association's sheltered housing schemes have resulted in a cheque for £500 being presented to Whiston Hospital's Special Care Baby Unit.
Rita Light, an active member of the Association's Tenants Forum, said: "Most of us have been around for a long time so we thought we should help those coming into the world and this seemed a very worthy cause."
So Rita and her colleagues and fellow residents organised a coffee morning and bring-and-buy sale at the Pyes Gardens complex, which raised more than £370.
She then took all the items not sold to another coffee morning at Patricia Court complex, where a further £120 was raised. This was topped up to £500 with a £10 donation from the Pyes Garden carpet bowls team.
