HE horrific images of the rescue operation from El Salvador's earthquake will no doubt have been distressing for your readers. The death toll, the full extent of which is not yet clear, is continuing to rise.
The earthquake itself is not the only threat to life in El Salvador. There is currently serious concern about the spread of disease and UNICEF is tackling this problem through the provision of basic medical supplies.
A donation of £32 is enough to supply, ship and distribute essential medical supplies lasting three months for 640 children.
Donations will be gratefully received at UNICEF El Salvador Earthquake Children's Appeal, Room LED, PO Box 70, Hazel Grove, SK7 6FU. Please make cheques payable to UNICEF El Salvador Emergency Appeal. Donate directly on our website at www.unicef.org.uk or by phone on 0345 312312 (24 hour, local rate).
Thank you.
KIM BONAJCZUK, Regional Officer North West, UNICEF.
