ATTACKING flair and outstanding goalkeeping gave a Lytham school a well deserved success in the Lancashire Under-18 men' hockey competition.
Under the captaincy of Michael Hall, King Edward and Queen Mary School took the Association Plate as runners up.
Goalkeeper Matthew Harwood made a series of outstanding saves to hold Preston Hockey Club to a 1-1 draw after Chris Roberts had scored a spectacular opener for Lytham.
Jonny Robinson, a 13 year-old Lancashire Schools player showed his seniors how to do it with some fine play against QEGS Blackburn.
Martin Currie, Alexi Rami and Gareth Roberts were all on the scoresheet in a 3-1 Lytham victory.
Michael Hall was delighted with the determination of his side.
"We could not match the skills of tournament winners Crosby," he said.
"But all 11 players showed tremendous spirit and to be runners up is a great achievement."
