DEMANDS for a new water treatment plant to clean up stretches of the River Irwell downstream of Bury have been made by three North West Euro MPs.
Radcliffe-based MEP Gary Titley (Labour), together with Sir Robert Atkins (Conservative) and Chris Davies (Liberal Democrat) are calling for the Government to install a new sewage facility at Kearsley.
While fish such as trout have returned to parts of the river flowing through Bury, they remain absent from stretches of water nearer to Manchester.
