A BURY driving instructor was robbed at knifepoint while he gave a lesson.
Mr Bryan Holland, who had a heart by-pass five years ago, suffered an angina attack as he gave details to police about the daylight raid in Higher Broughton.
He said he had never experienced anything like the robbery in 15 years of instructing.
"It was terrifying. Not just for me but for my pupil. She was screaming and was very distressed after the thieves fled," said the father-of-two, pictured after his ordeal.
"I suffered a mild angina attack and was taken by ambulance to hospital. It was my first attack since my heart operation."
The raid happened as Mr Holland was teaching his pupil to reverse into a side street. Two young men crossed the road behind the Vauxhall Astra, causing the pupil to stop the vehicle.
Seconds later they stepped around a corner wearing balaclavas. Mr Holland locked his door but the thieves opened the back door, unlocked the front passenger door and held a knife to his chest.
Mr Holland, who lives with his wife and two daughters in Bury, said: "They knew what they were doing. It was very fast and both men, who I believe to be brothers, were very calm. They escaped with my wallet containing £185 in cash."
He added: "My car has now been fitted with central locking but I will still be very apprehensive about driving in Higher Broughton and Cheetham Hill. I will be avoiding the street where it happened in future."
