A CLIVIGER coal mine is set to go back into production after plans to reopen it attracted no objections.
Lancashire county development control bosses are being urged on Wednesday to grant a new 10-year permission for Green Clough Colliery, off the Long Causeway, to operate as a drift mine.
The mine, which had an output of 6,000 tonnes a year, closed two years ago after a previous 10-year permission expired.
A report to the control committee says the new proposal is for working a much smaller underground area, extracting just 750 tonnes a year.
The mine would employ 10 people and sell coal direct to the public and local coal merchants.
The report adds that no public representations have been received and Burnley Council and Cliviger Parish Council offered no objections.
Councillors are being recommended to grant permission subject to safeguards and environmental conditions.
