MOSSLEY 1 RAMSBOTTOM 2

RAMSBOTTOM had a very slow start against top side Mossley who were out to revenge the 4-1 defeat at the Riverside earlier in the season creating most of the chances in the first half as Ramsbottom struggled to find any rhythm or pattern of play in windy conditions at Mossley.

The home side took the lead in the 27th minute Mike Garside drove a low cross through the six yard area and Ian Barker had a simple task to tap in from close range.

Ramsbottom then looked to lift their game but wasted several chances looking for the equaliser.

The second half once again was a different story. Ramsbottom took the game to Mossley a formation change caused through the injury to Neil Wallace started to make impression on the home side. Russell Brierley had two excellent opportunities only to be thwarted by keeper Allen.

After 70 minutes Ramsbottom opened their account with a great one from Wayne Bridden whose shot from the edge of the area was blocked by defender Jones which sent the ball high in the air looping over the head of keeper Allen.

This was the spur the Rams needed, then then pushed forward to gain full points and deserved the winner on 84 minutes when a corner from the right from Darren Bowman ended up at the feet of Mark Thomas in the six-yard box who slotted into the bottom corner.

Although the Rams had most of the second half they left Mossley a little lucky to have gained maximum points.
