MRS A Reid (Letters, January 26) wrote that all she got in return for her council tax was her bins emptied.
Presumably, she has no children, grandchildren, nephews or nieces who are educated in our local schools. She must never visit the library or any public leisure facilities.
She obviously never takes a walk in Corporation Park or Witton Park. She doesn't need a home help and doesn't use the day centres or the network of community centres.
It sounds like she doesn't care whether the street lights are functioning or the drains are clear or the streets swept.
She must not travel on the council-maintained roads and bridges and, apparently, she doesn't notice the presence of the police and fire services.
Maybe Mrs Reid doesn't realise, but these are just some of the services that her council tax provides -- does she really not use any of them?
