A POSTMASTER was hit over the head with a hammer during a robbery.
The victim, who has not been identified, suffered facial injuries and a dislocated shoulder in the attack at Bury's Brandlesholme Post Office.
Two raiders burst in at 5.35pmt as the counter clerk was locking up the premises. He was forced back into the shop and struck about the head and body with the hammer. The robbers grabbed cash and mobile phone cards before escaping.
The postmaster was taken to Bury General Hospital for treatment before being allowed home later last night.
