CHORLEY LYNX 8 WOOLSTON ROVERS 22
CHORLEY Lynx's dreadful run of defeats continued when they were sensationally dumped out of the Silk Cut Challenge Cup by amateurs Woolston Rovers.
It is now 12 months since their last victory and it is difficult to see where the next victory will come from. Lynx started brightly opening up an early eight point advantage before Woolston reduced the arrears.
Lynx had chances to extend their lead, but failed to do so and they went in at half time with an 8-6 advantage.
In the second half Woolston showed why they are challenging for championship honours in the National Conference with a very strong second half performance which saw them touch down three times as Lynx's challenge faded badly leaving them worthy winners.
After the game Lynx coach Graham West was a very disappointed man saying: "All credit must go to Woolston who were the better team on the day. We started well but could not hold out. We made too many mistakes especially in defence and when things go wrong heads begin to drop.
"As I have said before it was never going to be easy from the start of the season and we still face a big challenge to turn things around. The search for new players still goes on, but results like this don't make recruitment easy so therefore I have to keep working with what I got here."
Tonight Lynx have another difficult fixture when they travel to Boundary Park to take on in-form Oldham, kick off 7.30pm.
