A BOY is due to have surgery after a hit-and-run accident at a pedestrian crossing in Leigh.
The boy, aged nine, who has not been named, was crossing Chapel Street at 6.15pm yesterday when a car thought to be a Ford Fiesta went through the red light and hit him.
The driver got out of his car and went to him before driving off.
An ambulance took the boy to the Royal Bolton Hospital with a broken left leg.
It is believed the car has a G-registration and was dark-grey metallic in colour. There were two passengers inside.
Leigh traffic police are appealing for witnesses to call 0161 856 7072.
