REGARDING the McDonald's restaurant in Trafalgar Street, I see that the planning committee has again chosen to ignore the quality of life of the residents of Burnley.
McDonald's had merely identified a problem with storage when a bank holiday weekend extended over four days such as Easter and the occasional Christmas, yet the borough's planning committee chose to allow them to make deliveries on every Saturday throughout the year.
Two of our local leaders sit on the planning committee, namely Independent leader Councillor Harry Brooks, and Conservative leader Peter Doyle. Is this decision a reflection of their concern for the quality of life issues of the people of Burnley?
Perhaps they should be reminded that it is through considered attachment of planning conditions to the granting of planning permissions that our elected representatives can protect the interests of residents.
