THE people of Lancaster & Morecambe have witnessed another bizarre week of local politics courtesy of the ruling MBI group.
First we hear that Bubbles is to be demolished (again!) highlighting a classic MBI 'policy' move - waver, prevaricate for as long as possible and then take the first knee-jerk reaction that you can think of.
Secondly we find out that the MBI's are proposing that we sell off our museum to stave off the financial crisis brought about by their inability to manage the city council finances - what are they going to do when they have sold everything and there is nothing left to sell ?
Finally we hear that yet another MBI councillor is to quit the MBI group and become truly independent. Congratulations are due to Cllr David Kerr for this decision and it leaves me wondering how long this discredited MBI regime can continue? I have always had confidence that the people of Lancaster & Morecambe will refuse to return this loose political coalition to power at the next elections, however if their own councillors continue to defect or leave at the current rate maybe we won't have to suffer the MBI tyranny for even that long.
