I AM writing to point out the traffic problems that I and other residents who live near me are currently suffering.
I have discussed this matter a few times with St Helens Council about people turning up in their vehicles, parking outside our houses and returning a number of hours later. These people don't live here but many work in Liverpool or Manchester and their cars are sometimes there all day.
I am a homeowner and I find it almost impossible to be able to retain my parking space outside my house, as do the rest of the neighbours.
The other morning I returned home to find that there was no parking space so I had to park on the opposite side and then a wagon drove into my car! Is this what we pay our rates for?
I would like to point out to St Helens Council that if they are to discuss this matter further and stop the unwanted traffic from coming they need to give the residents and homeowners some resident parking. They have this in Scotchbarn Lane, Prescot, so why not in other areas?
We have wagons coming down, not to mention other large vehicles, so we just don't need it in a small residential area. It needs to stop very soon before someone suffers severely.
This is how dangerous it is and this is due to the lack of response from the council. It is about time they began to listen instead of pushing the matter to one side.
I do hope this letter can make the council take the matter more seriously. Anyone else who has this problem will understand what we are saying.
DAVID Allen (on behalf of fellow residents), Tasker Terrace, Rainhill.
