Pilkingtons u/16s 32 Halton Hornets 23
PILKS booked their place in the final of the Lancashire Cup after extra-time in a thrilling game.
Halton took an early eight-point lead with two unconverted tries, but by half-time Recs had levelled the scores with two touchdowns by Mark Ashton.
After the break Recs took the lead with a try from man-of-the-match, Peter Cook, with Ste Rawsthorne adding the two points. James Lacey extended Recs' lead with a try following good support play, but Halton hit back to level at 18-18.
Ashton again crossed for Recs to complete his hat-trick but Halton drew level again in the last minute but missed the kick which would have won the game.
In extra time, Halton took an early lead with a drop goal but Recs looked the stronger and following a move from a scrum were rewarded with a try by Liam Bostock, Ste Rawsthorne adding the goal. Another Pilks try by Barry Pope sealed victory in a game played in great spirit by both sides.
The N &P Bate Florists man-of-the-match was Cook, closely followed by Ashton and John Clough in a god team effort by Pilks who will now meet Thatto Heath Crusaders in the final.
