A STAFF nurse from Blackpool Victoria Hospital has hit the bull's-eye after a recent charity darts night, raising £600 for the Macmillan Windmill Appeal.
Michelle Bowland, who works in the Astor ward, decided to arrange the charity contest at the Devonshire Club, Blackpool, in memory of Cliff Inglis -- a relative of Michelle's who died of cancer.
In addition to this, a whopping £11,000 was raised by the South Blackpool Masons, who held a sponsored walk from Adelaide Street in Blackpool to The Taps pub in Lytham.
More than 150 walkers took part and were given free hot pot, apple pie and ice cream on arrival.
Dr Ramesh Gandhi, director of fundraising for the Windmill Appeal, said he was pleased with the donations: "To me it is excellent that so many are so committed to helping the appeal so we can get this excellent cancer unit to care for sufferers and their relations."
