LANCASTER & Morecambe College students will be out in force on Wednesday 14 February to clean the Millennium Bridge in preparation for its official opening.
The bridge will be officially opened on 16 February by Olympic gold-medallist Jason Queally, himself a former student of the college and in recognition of his achievement the students have chosen a gold theme to their cleaning operation.
The students, all on the NVQ Level 1 & 2 Housekeeping course will have all their cleaning equipment painted gold and they will work in two teams starting at opposite ends of the bridge. When they meet in the middle they will take on the responsibility of checking the other team's work to ensure it is up to Gold standard.
