LOCAL people have been invited to a series of Saturday morning seminars related to environmental issues.
Both students and local people who are concerned about the environment can attend the special seminars at Lancaster University.
The 'Thinking About Environment' seminars are intended to bring rigorous thinking to bear on environmental and social issues.
On three Saturday mornings each term, at 10am, a significant scholar will offer a talk after which there will be coffee and open discussion.
On Saturday, February 10, Alan Holland, Professor of Applied Philosophy, will discuss "Are choices trade-offs?"
On March 3, Dr Bronislaw Szerszynski, will speak on "Rites of Nature" and will explore how various forms of environmental politics can be viewed as different kinds of ritual.
And to end the term on March 24, Professor Keekok Lee will discuss "Is nature autonomous?".
The meetings will be held in the Bowland College Senior Common Room, just to the north of the central Alexandra Square, starting at 10am.
There is no charge or registration requirement. For enquiries call 015242 76265.
